RE:  Request for Proposal

Each year, for the past 21 years, Riviera Country Club and Sports Center and Pinnacle Custom Homes has sponsored and underwritten a dinner/dance and a week of other club events to raise funds for use in the "fight against cancer."  During this time, over $1.2 million has been raised for research and other cancer related endeavors.  The 22nd Annual Cancer Fundraiser to support this cause will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010.

This year’s proceeds of over $105,000.00 were awarded to four recipients: Loyola University Medical Center received funds to develop new strategies that utilize and enhance the effectiveness of immunotherapy in combating Metastatic Melanoma; University of Chicago’s funds will be used to study the mechanism and progression of the spread of pancreatic cancer and what role that a specific gene plays; Cancer Research Center of Hawaii is using the funds to identify the gene that makes some people more susceptible to asbestos carcinogenesis and at high risk of the disease; and Mayo Clinic will be using their funding to add all of its pre-existing pancreatic cancer tissue samples into the data base for streamlined access by researchers around the world

Should your organization desire to be a recipient of proceeds raised from the 22nd Annual Cancer Fundraiser, please complete and submit the enclosed Request for Proposal (RFP) on or before November 20, 2009 (please use additional pages if necessary.)  You may also download the RFP from our website:  www.united-4.com.  If a completed RFP can not be submitted by November 20, 2009, please submit a preliminary proposal with a date indicating when the completed RFP will be submitted.   Notice of the charity chosen will be made December 15, 2009 and the actual award of proceeds (projected to be between $5,000 and $40,000) made by approximately May 15, 2010.

Remember, only cancer-related projects or activities will be considered.  Thank you in advance for your participation.

Sincerely,

Daniel O’Donnell
